I contacted VLAD after a negative experience with another... company. I needed service to my water softener and a representative from that company showed up to my house hours after the appointment time and well into night. He showed up without any equipment or tools and was just trying to sell me a replacement system. He never discussed servicing my system which is what I asked for when I scheduled the appointment.The next day I contacted VLAD and it was a totally different experience. He asked me all the right questions, and for a photo of my water softener. He explained how he was going to proceed before scheduling an appointment. His technician showed up on time. They were available quickly for an appointment, and they were flexible in ordering the type of water filter we wanted (the cartridges are easy to replace with a twist and click into place). I was also very pleased that they were able to find a spout that perfectly matched the copper/gold color of our kitchen faucet. What is PFAS?

PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) are synthetic organofluorine chemical compounds that have multiple fluorine atoms attached to an alkyl chain. They are a group of man-made chemicals that don’t break down and can accumulate over time. There is evidence that exposure to PFAS can lead to adverse human health effects.

What are PFAS chemicals?

Most notably, PFAS chemicals include PFOA, PFOS, & GenX. According to OECD, there are at least 4730 different PFASs.

PFAS are used for creating stain and water repellent fabrics, nonstick products (e.g., Teflon), polishes, waxes, paints, cleaning products, and fire-fighting foams.

How to filter PFAS out of water?

In general, PFAS resist most conventional chemical treatment technologies employed by local water municipalities. The strongest proven technologies to filter PFAS out of water include granular activated carbon absorption, ion exchange resins, and reverse osmosis.

What does PFAS do to your body?

Exposure to PFAS may result in negative health effects to your body. Some identified by the EPA include:
Developmental effects to fetuses during pregnancy or to breastfed infants

Testicular or kidney cancer
Liver damage
Immune effects (antibody production and immunity)
